Most people don't realize that the word "dated" doesn't mean old-fashioned. Something can be both dated and also perfectly aligned with current fashions. Indeed, it's almost certain that something perfectly aligned with current fashions is also dated.

Haircuts. Always haircuts. If you find a poster of haircuts in the window of a barbershop and save it for 30 years, it is guaranteed to look ridiculous.

Interesting. The word 'contemporary' kinda has this duality where sometimes the audience doesn't understand if you are talking about contemporary to the time period in question, or to today. Plus 'Modern' can also be ambiguous.

When I hear "contemporary" before a word like "design" or "art," in my mind I can't help deleting the initial "con."
