So don't be too demoralized if you have startup ideas and no way to implement them. All you have to do is learn some programming and start engaging with your local tech community. That's work, but it's easier than the local programmers learning about your field.

So true.

I would add also that the overall expertise required to build something has decreased over time thank to all the tools we have right now (say, CMS, Payment bridges, no code app builder, cloud). Maybe in this period it’s better being a domain expert rather than a programmer.

You also don’t want too many programmer friends... no hate to my fellow computer monkeys... but damn... we can talk about other things too

Every non technical founder I met has shot themselves in the foot by failing to evaluate technical requirements.. “it looks good enough” to write their startup in some php framework from 1999, is this just a reality they’re subjected to?

As a non-tech writer founder, I lived the downside in the last 8 months. We couldn't just get a developer. But in the end it worked out, we now have a static developer with a decent industry experience in our team for the last 4 months.

Hi there, I"m curious, could you tell me what a static developer is? (I googled and found static development in Magento but that doesn't seem to fit.)

would you recommend young programmers go into fields further from programming to find unexploited ideas?

Spot on. I ended up self-funding a develop for a non-profit startup project. It's a real challenge for those of us looking to focus on problem solving, one where it seems that the best answer increasingly leans towards "learn how to program".

The downside I have observed hasn’t been to find programmers (there are enough of us), but adverse selection in how they pick technical cofounders. Much easier problem to solve though than finding big, unexploited ideas

it's the same thing tho
