You've misunderstood me. I'm saying there was plenty you couldn't say 50 years ago in the US, and in other countries, and everywhere else at every previous time too.
What I'm asking is whether you think there was any previous society in which there was nothing true you couldn't say, or whether you think ours is the first.

You are saying that this is because of intolerance on the left to dangerous ideas, and it isn't, unless you consider bigotry a dangerous idea. And there is an asymmetry: people on the left are generally not advancing the notion that white male Christian supremacy is justified.
