You've misunderstood me. I'm saying there was plenty you couldn't say 50 years ago in the US, and in other countries, and everywhere else at every previous time too.

Do you think those things weren't said? Because they were, and protected in many quarters. Now speech is more public because everyone consumes media in some form.
