I'd argue with need for domain expertise. FB/Youtube/TWTR/NFLX had none in media, Tesla/Waymo in Autos? Rocketlab/SpaceX in space? AMZN in retail? AirBnB in hotels? Uber in transportation? These founders didn't have domain expertise in the *legacy* businesses they undermined, but they had domain expertise in the new world they were creating. The Airbnb founders, for example, were the first hosts.
And while Bezos may not have had experience in bookselling, the operative word in "internet bookseller" is "internet," not "bookseller," and he knew way more about that than most people before starting Amazon. Etc, etc.

While they might have not had domain expertise, they did have other characteristics that matter more - initiative, asking right questions, willingness to experiment. Luck and being in the right - place/time and with right people does also help.

Expertise comes from working in the domain. Lack of expertise often makes you ask the stupid questions that most assumed have good answers but not really and thus finding new opportunities to change, replace and sometimes transform
