If you criticize the left for this, they'll call you conservative, or even racist. Because that's what they do now. But there are differences in m.o. between left and right as well as differences in ideas, and disagreement with the former ≠ disagreement with the latter.
Watch for it to get worse with the incoming administration.
So funny. The current Administration can be described as one relentless attack on the free press, on free speech, on science, on facts, on reality itself, but you think the Left is illiberal and things will get worse under the next Administration. The shamelessness is stunning.
Being afraid - and for a good reason - to speak(up) is horrible. But on the flip side, maybe some/many people should spend a few moments to first think about whatever they want to say/write. Inception/Dissemination of fake news/conspiracies etc could be reduced.
There's no way to know how many moments people spent thinking about what they would write unless they write it.
Perhaps it is because the right know intuitively that their ideas are indefensible. There certainly a lot of strong right-leaning thinkers but you'll always find at least one concept they strongly stick to that appears abhorrent from the fairness perspective.
The confounding factor may be the age of the individual (younger = leftier) and therefore peer pressure & college. That doesn't change the insight, but it might change the implication
