This is because there is no mechanism that holds universities accountable for the preparedness of their graduates. The money keeps rolling in due to guaranteed student loans and a culture that brainwashes kids into believing that they need to go to college to be successful.https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1330023092232605696 …

Lambda School fixes this. They only get paid if their students do, so they're trained by the market to train their students well. (cc @Austen)

Without denigrating any of the good work lambda school does - is this mostly because with the ISA, the interests actually get aligned ? Would lambdaschool still function properly if it just collected the roughly 30k up front ?

I love some of those new alternative funding concepts. It really seems like the best of all worlds. Are these gaining in popularity? How could they not?

I'd also imagine it works better for fields that require very specific skills that can be mastered. Might be hard for something like, say, philosophy.

Do you think Lambda school system works for jobs that don’t pay as well? Would love to see the economics of that.

Programmers do not need more education than plumbers. In most cases you would be better off starting your carrier in high school. Spending years in college that is always behind the industry is such a waste. Only prejudice creates such a need for CS degrees.
