Ok so there’s a lot of hyperbole around “biggest / most challenging problems”.... what do you think are *actually* the biggest and most challenging problems worth solving in the world right now? Like if we could make an ordered list and make some issues disappear, what’s # 1-5?

well allocation of resources will surely matter. If the benevolent AI is created sooner and accumulates larger resource share 'maximize human flourishing' may be eliminating any selfish AI. Let's hope that benevolence has first mover advantage :)

Most things are invented by benevolent people, because most clever people are benevolent. But eventually, not-so-benevolent people start sniffing around. For example, the Internet was ~95% benevolent before ~2012. The telephone industry was once (say, pre-1975) benevolent.

The one that people approve of most should have a big advantage. Sadly, history shows that people often approve of self-interested despots.

It's unclear why human approval would even be relevant to an AGI. To the extent that we're talking about something that is more capable than people at *everything* (including at manipulating people), the development of AGI seems like a close-to-sufficient condition for takeover.
