Ok so there’s a lot of hyperbole around “biggest / most challenging problems”.... what do you think are *actually* the biggest and most challenging problems worth solving in the world right now? Like if we could make an ordered list and make some issues disappear, what’s # 1-5?

The most obvious one is climate change, but there could be even bigger problems that we don't notice because we take them for granted. Historically the biggest problems that got solved tended to be in the latter category.

It's hard to think of bigger problems than climate change, but there could be some that have climate change as a subset. E.g. if energy got cheap enough, we could probably just suck the excess carbon out of the atmosphere.

Overpopulation. The hardest challenge because all the solutions are horrible. Climate change is a subset of this problem.

Birth rates are going down. Depopulation and aging has will be bigger problems going forward.

topsoil depletion and climate change are at the top of looming crises, and both can be substantially ameliorated with one intervention: biochar boring, Roman-era technology but: it works if you're looking to make a difference, start there

Here's the two big opportunities within climate: 1) People want to make an impact — like work on climate—but don't know where to start. 2) Climate education — particularly as it relates to employment — is in high demand, but grossly underserved. -->http://Climatebase.org

@nomadicnerd and I have discussed his idea of building giant pyramids in the deserts in the US out of a (yet to be invented) stable carbon sequestering material using solar power. Beyond energy $ cost - what are the current most energy efficient carbon seq methods?
