Imagine how much easier hiring decisions would become if you could try out a programmer for four weeks before hiring them. https://twitter.com/Austen/status/1328797709533233152 …

I told Austen this doesn't even have to be free. It's revolutionary at full price. So better sign up before he realizes I'm right.

that has existed for ages in many formats. internships, apprenticeships, consulting and services. what's revolutionary?

The audacity to not pay these people is what I assume they believe to be revolutionary

And it will create a feedback loop that will help Lambda get better at preparing students. Aligning incentives is powerful.

There’s so much you can do if you’re actually teaching people rather than selling prestige. Easy to build out referral network, easy to funnel the students towards an incubator you support, easy to hire students directly to build out new things, etc.

That is so right, and this principle is so novel that even Lambda is still discovering new things they can do.

Companies pay machining interns from my community college so they can offer full time positions to students who know their stuff. We do similar stuff with engineering students and paid internships. I’m surprised that the practice isn’t more widespread.
