My hunch based on history: Super-super star like NY & London cities will ultimately bounce back the most. San Francisco will bounce back but may lose share to other tech hubs. Second & third tier cities will face the bigger struggles long term. CBDs will never be the same.https://twitter.com/conorsen/status/1328688406709362688 …

I love SF but I could never live there. Instead I played a game I called randvs Roulette. Whenever someone screwed with my projects, I spent 10 minutes on my resume and sent it out. 25% of the time I would get airplane tickets, hotel, car pickup.

I spent a day telling them how awesome I am, boosting my ego. Then I would quote them a price they would not pay. I would go home feeling great and whoever had screwed with my project got a stern warning from mgmt.

Certainly an unusual place. A weird microcosm of America. Dynamic, gorgeous, innovative, fun, but also crazy, almost third world inequality, rampant NIMBYism , squalor, filth, excess.

I think they will prove more resilient than many think this time around. But I think NYC will come out in better shape than San Fran. Keep thinking back to Ben Chinitz article on Pittsburgh v NYC. I don’t think San Fran is Pittsburgh but NYC Is so much larger and more diverse
