Last night my sons asked me all about drugs. I told them in as much detail as I could about each kind. My hope is that "fentanyl is *way* more dangerous than pot" will work better than the implicit equality of "say no to drugs."

You can't actually "say no to drugs" without being a teetotaller, unless your definition of drugs doesn't include alcohol, in which case you have a bad definition of drugs.

If you are a teetotaller (I am), would you tell them to "say no to drugs"? Are you worried about its practicality or not being sincere?

I'm reluctant to give other parents explicit advice, since I don't know your circumstances, but it can't be that dangerous to explain why you use no drugs, and why.

In my particular case, if I didn't consume alcohol or caffeine, I'd probably still tell them exactly what I did. Their friends will at some point consume various drugs, even if I don't, so they need to be prepared.
