Beware: the latest Chrome release may have a bug in it. I just tried to update Chrome, and it didn't restart automatically. The process hung and I had to use Force Quit. Lost all my tabs.

You weren't using a Mac were you? There is a bug in the call-to-base in the MacOS that Apple use to keep track of every application you launch, and it has be causing hangs.
Yes, I was using a Mac. Is there any way I can tell if that was the cause? I seem to be able to start other apps.
