Having multiple plans (plan B through plan Z) to fall back on in case plan A goes to shit would be a good strategy though

Thank you. Part of said detailed plan should be to have multiple contingencies just in case something doesn't go your way. Maybe even study how other people handled the situation to learn from them--or from their mistakes.

Planning narrows your focus. Good for concrete problems. Bad for abstract problems that require creativity.

Yes, a too narrow focus can be bad. But you can plan to be adaptable. You can plan to regularly pause & check if one is being successful, if one is making progress or if there are setbacks that requires one to adapt to in order to overcome. All of that can be part of planning.
