I'm curious what story Trump will tell his followers about why he left the White House. Presumably the Democrats alone are not powerful enough to force him out. Will he blame Republican traitors? Or the deep state? "I had to leave because the GSA changed all the locks."

I wonder if he himself has figured out what he's going to say. Crafting this story is going to require a level of cleverness not usually seen from him and his immediate associates.

Perhaps the solution is to use the line favored by executives who are forced out: that despite being the wronged party, he's leaving voluntarily to prevent the organization from being distracted by this controversy at this critical moment.

I remember reading somewhere that the most likely thing to happen will be: he remains relatively quiet through December during the fraud "investigations", goes to Mar-a-lago, then doesn't return and never gives a concession speech. That seems on brand for him.

That's an interesting possibility. Maybe he just doesn't address leaving office at all, and just keeps organizing rallies etc and most of his supporters don't even stop to ask what happened.

he’ll say living there wasn’t great and he’s instead chosen to reside in the great - some say the greatest ever - state of Florida.

I imagine it playing out like the scene in Forrest Gump where he stops running, and the people behind him are just sort of bewildered and not sure what to do next.
