I'm curious what story Trump will tell his followers about why he left the White House. Presumably the Democrats alone are not powerful enough to force him out. Will he blame Republican traitors? Or the deep state? "I had to leave because the GSA changed all the locks."

I wonder if he himself has figured out what he's going to say. Crafting this story is going to require a level of cleverness not usually seen from him and his immediate associates.

Perhaps the solution is to use the line favored by executives who are forced out: that despite being the wronged party, he's leaving voluntarily to prevent the organization from being distracted by this controversy at this critical moment.

I remember reading somewhere that the most likely thing to happen will be: he remains relatively quiet through December during the fraud "investigations", goes to Mar-a-lago, then doesn't return and never gives a concession speech. That seems on brand for him.

That's an interesting possibility. Maybe he just doesn't address leaving office at all, and just keeps organizing rallies etc and most of his supporters don't even stop to ask what happened.

Since it’s easier to be the victim than a loser, his narrative may be around how the election was stolen and his followers deprived of another term. And that will lay the groundwork for a 2024 run with a slogan like: #TakeAmericaBackAgain. I do fervently hope that I’m wrong!

It might help to know that Trump has said all along he will concede the election if he ultimately loses a dispute over it in the Supreme Court.
