In some ways twitter feels like a 13 year old MVP. It gets the core app experience just good enough to be viable and moated, but then they stopped innovating. So much untapped potential, but it’s not easy for a new co to just go do it instead
Yes, that's a perfect description. Craigslist is like this too, and for the same reason.

Twitter’s lack of innovation is still way better than the over-innovation Facebook applies that makes their networks less interesting over time.
