Our latest YouGov/The Economist poll has a host of troubling findings about public confidence in the election. Most shocking is that 86% of Trump voters say that Biden "did not legitimately win the election." 73% say that we'll "never know the real outcome of this election."

I find all this pearl-clutching a bit too much. Trump supporters have always claimed to believe various things he's said that were not too plausible, and it's a bit like the kayfabe of professional wrestling. Nothing will happen. They almost all understand the game.

It's basically the same thing that happened during the last election, just the other way round.

In the last election people questioned the methods and the misinformation. Democrats didn't question vote counts or the legitimacy of the win or try to keep the peaceful transition of power from happening.

One of the mantras of the left used to be "question authority". I guess that's over now

question authority... with evidence. baseless claims don't hold up in court, as seen by trumps 0-12 record in court so far

Don’t know why people are so troubled. Similar stats in most general elections in the US (especially the close ones). This is just the heat of the moment, not the end of the world.

In 2016 virtually all Clinton supporters (and some others) said that Trump didn’t legitimately win the election. How you stand depends on where you sit.

The margins were thinner in 2016. What % of them thought we knew the real outcome then?
