Perhaps we can now drop the ‘both sides’ equivalence and admit why US cities boarded-up last week? Fears of looting and arson were only if Trump got re-elected. A self-questioning left would reflect here: Are you happy about having become the side of implicit, expected violence?

The right has clung to white supremacy, hatefully scorning millions of minorities, many of whom are poor because of systemic injustice. The left is simply vocal about this injustice. Odd incidents of violence are caused by injustice, not by those who point their fingers at it.
You have certainly summarized the orthodox far-left position on this issue better than I could have done.

Well, you could’ve also seen a repudiation of the ridiculous notion that violence is a problem on the left. But I guess we all have our biases.

it's neither orthodox nor far-left. That position is pure both-sides-ism. One party is constantly violating norms, suppressing votes, acting illegally, threatening violence, and the other isn't.
