I share that sentiment. Def software is making it a hell of a lot safer, but I love working on motorcycles and cars and that is getting near impossible. I wonder if a culture of software mod in auto comes similar to the mechanical mod culture. Rooting for it.

Try finding a refrigerator made without software! The ones from 1975 mostly don't work any more.

I think what he means is one in which the consequential decisions (in this case directly related to driving) are being made by humans. You have software running all around a patient in hospital yet you don't say that those machines are medical practitioners.
