Gears are not a thing for electrical cars because electrical engines work different than gasoline. For the latter, the engine delivers peak power at high RPM, so you need gears to allow the engine to turn that fast. This is not the case for electrical engines

It still boggles me that they don't realize that. Some of the very high end cars come with a rotating knob to choose the menu on the screen. If only they invested or acquired some software companies to redo their cockpits

To replace that knob with what? A touchscreen? There are places where that night be useful (control panels for passengers in the back seat perhaps), but you can’t easily use a touchscreen without looking at it. And encouraging drivers to look away from the road is a bad idea.
