. But my core point was it’s the job of each party to frame the other as bad. And the message of “immigrants are taking our jobs” is simpler to some than “immigrants start our biggest companies and create lots of jobs”.
The "immigrants are taking our jobs" message is also nonsensical. Immigrants live primarily in urban areas (64% of them live in NYC/LA/Miami alone). How many rural Americans know even one immigrant?
Do you not believe a large and very vocal subset of the GOP is not also genuinely more concerned with ideological purity?
If cult of personality is an ideology? No question.
Point being Repubs speak to the concerns of the working class. They lie through their teeth while doing so, but Dems need to focus on unions/wages/healthcare instead of identity politics that doesn't help 90% of the working class but makes Kaelyn in CA feel more woke
I think you are overstating that. There is no easy way to tell a massive bloc of the USA that their theological, anti-intellectual, medieval, puritanical views are wrong. And, if they cling to them, then yes, it will breed contempt which is further fanned by GoP conspiracies.

We have, collectively, a lot of work to do. And while it’s easy to say “how could they vote for him?!!?”, they did and we all need to fix this divide. Pointing and saying “they’re wrong” isn’t going to fix anything. And they’re not wrong. 68m disagree with 72m. We need to fix it
