If you’re a journalist or a pundit and you’re genuinely shocked that Trump is doing so well I would like to gently suggest that you either expand your sources or find a new fucking profession
You don't need to understand the electorate to get clicks. You just need need to understand the people you're getting clicks from.

It is in the modern day. The word "journalist" has been bastardized to the point where most of them are glorified marketers at best
