      If so that implies that the electorate's political beliefs do not lean as far to the left as his victories imply. Which I can believe based on what we're seeing now.

          It is really not about right or left, or even about policy. The policies that Biden support, which are quite « left » are supported by steong majorities. It is something else... identity?

          This sounds like a debate had in the UK last election. Individually the Left policies are popular with the electorate, but offered all of them at the same time feels like too much of a change to many people that in principle tend in that direction.
