Probably the best answer; there is hardly any single cause. Someone mentioned stock market jitters; I'd add trillion-dollar U.S. federal deficits; I'd guess the prices of other commodities (e.g. oil) are also a factor.

Before covid, many people were already thinking of a market crash. Think about the crossed 3m and 10y interest rates curves, extremely low current interest rates and potential inflationary side-effects. To me it made sense
