It depends whether you're protecting against a misinterpretation an honest reader might make. It's good to do that. But protecting against deliberate misinterpretation just clutters an essay.
Making an argument that anticipates & rebuts possible contrary positions has been a part of formal rhetoric since antiquity. Any essay that shares something worthwhile should be expected to cause debate in the public salon. Besides, lack of pushback leaves thoughts flabby.
I suppose the point is that there is good faith pushback and bad faith pushback.
