Design for profit as well?
Don't design your startup to appeal to investors. Investors are a lousy source of evolutionary pressure. Aiming to please them will turn you into a caricature of a startup. Design your startup to appeal to users. If users love you, investors will.

Seeing more startups target VC/SV professionals as initial target customer which seems like a reasonable strategy for them. VC Twitter hype is strong.

Yes, when VCs are the actual customers, that works well. It also works well when their portfolio companies are your customers.
