If you learned this summer that there are certain things you can do without catching the coronavirus, you may have learned less than you think. There was a lot less coronavirus to catch in the summer.

Is it possible your fears are influencing a lot of your thinking and actions?

I certainly hope so. From what I've seen of this disease, it's an excellent thing to fear.

People notice that fewer people get the flu during the summer than the winter and conclude that the flu is caused by the temperature drop, ignoring that it is an airborne virus and that people hudle together in confined spaces in the winter. Drowning and ice-cream sales.

Yes more people catch flu in winter - so increases chances of catching all types including Coronavirus. I am curious how much is the contribution of central heating (as it makes room air dry, making it easy for virus to dock in our dry nasal cavity / throat).

The biggest challenges with winter will be plummeting Vitamin D levels and people spending more time indoors, where it spreads more easily. Many places will likely experience very severe second waves.
