“Many of the more successful entrepreneurs seem to be suffering from a mild form of Asperger’s where it’s like you’re missing the socialization gene. What is it about our society where those of us who do not suffer from Asperger’s are at some massive disadvantage?”

Strangely enough I'm writing an essay about this right now. What it is about our society is that new ideas are valuable. People with Asperger's are extremely independent-minded, and thus more likely to discover them.

Or is it less about “discovering” the new idea, and independent minded ppl are more likely to execute the idea since they don’t let nay-sayers stop them?

That too. Discovery and execution aren't separate steps. Discovery is a form of execution, and execution includes a lot of discovery.

Curious, how do you think about passion in this regard for such people? Is it really the Asperger’s syndrome that pushes them to discover, execute for financial freedom?https://twitter.com/VManasvi/status/1320468204079190016 …

The phrase “passion economy” has less truth in it It’s really about survival at your own terms and having the grit to not give up, despite hurdles (be it trying new tools, new methods, or laddering up at a job) It’s not about passion, it’s about financial freedom https://twitter.com/TaylorLorenz/status/1319317986763706368 …

I remember in high school being cool or just “normal” was mainly about paying lots of attention to trivial and time wasting data points. Nerds had the massive advantage of not caring about most of it. Football, who was dating who, what music was cool, clothing trends, etc
