If you're proposing to work on an idea that has killed every previous startup that tried it, the most important thing to explain to investors (and to figure out for yourself) is what killed them and why you're immune.

Discovering buried bodies isn’t trivial. Though I guess, “we will force it to work this time” provides little confidence. Using this as an opportunity to follow back up with the investor is a good play. But from experience it felt like a game of “gotcha”.
