$50k invested in Segment after Demo Day yielded about $12.4m. You had to be pretty bold to invest after Demo Day, though, because then they were making technology to warn lecturers when students could no longer follow them.

I still think there's something to the idea of telling speakers anonymously when you can no longer follow them. How often have you been in that situation and said nothing? The problem is, professors are the world's worst initial market. Maybe now it's just a Zoom feature.

there's a lot of pivots & data points to eventually become the segment that we use today. 😲

No, just understanding what the hell the professor is talking about.

Frankly I want this for email more than anything. Anonymously tell an email-er thumbs up or down + more feedback (too long, too frequent, unstructured, etc)!

Does this extend to a broader statement: academia as a whole is the worst initial market for software?

You could probably just leave it at “professors are the world’s worst.” 🙂

"I still think there's something to the idea of telling speakers anonymously when you can no longer follow them." I often get less than stellar ratings on "recognizes with students" don't understand on course evaluations. Real-time feedback for large lectures would be great.

Fascinating! Professors *want* this?!? As an interpreter (simultaneous into other languages) there is HUGE PRESSURE not to “interrupt” but I promise there are many times when we should #1nt
