At what age, when you choose to defer starting a startup because you need to get more experience, does the probability that you're lying to yourself cross 50%? Jessica thought 26. I thought 24. But somewhere in the mid 20s probably.

(This is on average. There are obviously edge cases where the age is older. E.g. if there's some startup you need to be an MD to start.)

How do considerations like health insurance especially for family affect the age profile of startup entrepreneurs?

you can't just post that at the same time I posted "a startup in soctech is not a startup in medtech" gut response: 26-33. that's the age a lot of eminent authors wrote their first major novel. it's young enough to be risky, but old enough to identify when you're being dumb.

On average, sounds about right, for the male, white with the usual privileges.

Even health-tech startups (unless biotech) can be started without no MD degree. I learned from speaking to hundreds of doctors then quickly brought on a MD cofounder at a point.

Not just experience. Throw in financial wherewithal. Hustled in 20s with sidegigs etc but 32 before I had a modicum of financial security. Possibly worse now with excessive student debt overhang

I started my current startup, which is the furthest I’ve gone so far, when I was 29. The first one was when I was 27 but that one didn’t go anywhere. I think that most people’s first attempts will fail so it’s important to get the battle scars early and often.

Ya, really depends. I take it 24-26 is 2-5 years of work experience for many people. But for many others they're just getting started

Also needs to take in account different levels of access. There are people that start late in life because that’s what theh could afford.
