Paul Graham's articles are perhaps the very first example of "Content Marketing" by a VC/Accelerator.
Probably the reason they work is that they weren't meant to be. I was publishing essays online for several years before I became an investor, and I've always cared more about writing than investing. Investing grew out of the essays rather than vice versa.

Yup, agree with that. If they were intended to be “content marketing”, people would have ignored it as one more marketing blog post from a VC. A good number of hackers, founders resonated with what you wrote and that worked out really well for everyone involved :)

Would you say it’s ok if the essays are not “correct”? That is opinion pieces that open you up to learning and dialogues? I’m very apprehensive to start expressing my thoughts and blogging if the above is not the case.

It's also hard I've never managed to be consistant with writing tried almost every recommended trick. Somehow I don't have that issue with wirting code.
