This insight is practically the only thing I gained by reading Some Particulars of the Life of the Late George Colman, which represents the limit case. I recommend his plays though.

People shouldn't pay attention to criticism on the internet. They are fighting an invisible crowd who by far outnumbers them and without a doubt has the last word. If somebody has a criticism, do a face-to-face debate. If they are not willing to do that, just let it slide.

Not caring about winning trivial arguments (aka most arguments) is the ultimate time saver.

I notice a similar pattern in business biographies, if you fell out with a fellow executive it goes in the book, if you had a good relationship it’s skated over or not mentioned. I’d have thought good relationships build businesses more often than bad ones detract from them.
