I've been trying to teach 8 yo a fairly complete list of all the ways people manipulate one another. I'm a little nervous in case I still need any as a parent.

But maybe I could do it by making the essay about the nature of manipulation. Then the specific techniques would just be examples instead of a complete catalogue. And it would be more abstract, which would be better.

You mention "manipulation" Munger mentioned in his1995 talk he doesn't feel his version of teaching bias's should be widely read because it may be used to manipulate Do you worry teaching this might have unforseen consequences, what are you doing to safe guard

A fairly complete list down to the vulnerabilities exploited here; at least according to Braiker and Simon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_manipulation …. It's curious seeing it all detailed out in one place..

I’d suggest thinking of it as persuasion. What makes it manipulation is ill intent. This way, learning persuasion becomes a skill, a positive, vs something to be wary/afraid of.
