Yep this is a known issue of ranked choice voting. STAR alleviates this issue but there will always be voters who make uninformed/unwise decisions

If everyone (regardless of age) were granted 50 tokens, you’d expect the boomers+ to spend more rashly, as they have less time to ration. Which would still end in extreme positions, trending to the right.

It would be rational for younger voters to spend disproportionately larger amount of tokens, given the enacted policies would impact them for longer.

An extreme election or two we could take, but there would then be an outcry from all the "22-yr-olds with no voice" in society, so more tokens would be issued.

Perhaps it is not that rash - 18 year olds have more to lose than people with diminished life expectancy. As a separate topic, young people are less nuanced but often more principled in intent.

Probably we need a system where number of tokens available depends on taxes paid.
