How do you navigate the tension between the encouragement of startups to build fast VS the amount of time you personally spend considering every detail of the language you're making?

Some are though. To speak personally, our customers are developers on a platform with a pretty large programming surface, and expect longevity. I feel responsibility for every feature we release, much like a programming language might. Our worst mistakes have come from rushing.

Rushing is not the same as being fast. And challenging the status-quo assumptions of we just can't do things faster (incrementally faster)
