Why do you think some people have negative reactions like this, versus others who have really enthusiastic reactions?
People often put down efforts to do new things because they're threatened by them. But I don't think that is the case here. I think Gabe just has no idea how aircraft production works, and his misunderstanding of it led him to believe Boom was trying to mislead people.

He seems to have believed initially that this plane was a 1:n scale non-flying model of the Overture. In fact neither of those is true.

If this helps, I've been following Boom on Twitter for months and I've just realised that this plane is not the airliner. I've never seen any mention that this was a scale model.

Look, based on DMs and replies, a lot of tech enthusiasts who read lots of tweets and headlines and maybe even clicked on a video still had no idea there's no flying plane yet, or that the XB-1 isn't what they're betting their business on.

But they're just random people on social media, and you are a tech journalist. It's your job to get these things right before expressing opinions about them. And the threshold for certainty is even higher for snarky, dismissive opinions.
