Hume is brilliant. He was hundreds of years ahead of his time on a number of topics. (Sadly, he wasn't on race.)
Einstein was inspired from Hume. The concept of relativity was first explained by Hume in his Treatise of Human Nature. Proof by negation was a concept which Hume popularised which became the foundations of science. Do I need to say more?
I was blissfully unaware of Hume's cancellation by Edinburgh (does quick Google search)... now I have one more data point that the world is really messed up.
I took a few engineering classes next to 'DHT' 20 years ago & walk past the building often.
Thankfully the Scottish Enlightment continues to exist alongside an evolving awareness of racism.
