It's pretty exciting to find oneself routinely using "subsonic" as a name for a category of airliners.

Don’t believe it: You can’t go supersonic over land without serious problems, Boom only claims to carry ~60 which isn’t even a regional jet in seat count, and they HOPE to be business class seat price, when business travel is going to be the worst to recover.
You can make enough money flying just over water. Those are the long routes where speed matters. There are only 42 business class seats in a 787. Why would business travel be the slowest to recover?

We realized we can keep BaU over videoconferencing. If I can work from home I can also save many of the flights.

That is the thing: Even with an SST, crossing the Atlantic for a business meeting is going to kill a day, and the “day killed” is not going to be much shorter with conventional since if you are business/first class, you can actually sleep on the plane....
