Something I have noticed repeatedly when doing drafts for artifacts with an editorial process: I’ve begun inserting “sacrificial” paragraphs/examples/etc which I think are unlikely to survive review but which might shield points I want to keep. Generating these great for ideas.

I do like a sacrificial sentence in my own writing. To see how I support my own idea. If, during the editing process, I find I have found truth, I can remove the sentence and let the idea stand on its own.

Edit: If the idea is true, let it stand on its own.
