The most underappreciated disaster of Trump's presidency has been his 4-year hijacking of the news cycle. Just think of all the salient info we never learned of because it was muscled out of the top stories by his clownery. He and the obsessed media made us all dumber.
The media is not simply obsessed. Trump generates the sort of outrage clicks that make them money.

This is true, but we must compare reality to its alternatives. Imagine a universe where the media *didn't* cover Trumpisms — would that really be preferable?

Yes. I would rather they cover things of substance that impact lives and wellbeing in the years to come. Not “I can’t believe he did x” , where x is superficial

Mainstream media went all in on misinformation & negativity news over last 5yrs w trump (but increasingly since ron burgandy's era) & have allowed independent journalists to spring up in place since ppl still want news.. & so when trump leaves office, so will mainstreams ratings.
