You look a little younger than my grandfather was when he emigrated from the UK, but you don't have any info about your parents or why they emigrated: a job opportunity, adventure, and/or the wrong accent limited opportunity for a very bright couple in the UK.
My father went to the US on a Fullbright in the 1950s. He loved it there and decided then that he would emigrate, but it took him another 10 years before the UK's gradual decline finally drove him to leave.

Those were really depressing years. I am glad you all came here. It is always a little sad to hear why people leave the UK. My great-grandfather left because he was blackballed in the wool industry because was involved in union activity.
