Something I taught 11 yo: Cheering yourself up is among the things that parents do for little kids, but that you have to learn how to do for yourself as you grow up. Techniques: exercise, trying something slightly (but not too) ambitious, helping someone else.

More than just cheering yourself up - managing your state. Other techniques: meditation, walks, eating well.

I’m 27 and my parents def haven’t cheered for me in a long long time. Gotta rely on myself to pick myself up on my bad days. Exercise is def a game changer

It is one of the most important skill and given the kind of environment we all are growing up in, especially when we go from being among school toppers to average skill humans in real world. Kind of a shock and it requires huge energy to hold oneself high and patient at that time

Why not too ambitious? Just curious to know.

If you try something too ambitious you'll fail, which will depress you instead of cheering you up.
