Something I taught my sons (and countless HN users): one of the very worst things you can do is to disparage the efforts of someone who's trying to do something new, and hasn't gotten very far yet. Conversely, one of the best things you can do is to encourage such people.

Was it equally satisfying to suggest to people who have been trying but made no real progress or gained no real market that it was because the idea was flawed(saturated market, weak tech, other reasons) and set them on a different path ?
