One of the reasons I liked working at YC was that the job basically consists of encouraging people who are trying to do something new, and haven't gotten very far yet.

is the answer to that obvious? (i.e. is it a counterexample?) The ability to entertain and understand media virality is a useful skill, I think the danger might be in dependence on validation If you receive validation, it may not meet

There is no end to the joy of meeting someone who has a host of beautiful things that they do, but which they, for some reason or another, do not yet know how to see clearly or talk about well. I fall in love with what they do, with the discovery & expedition. I’m here: I listen.

I can see the reality of their dreams, it’s what I love about the world of reading and writing, and the obstacles appear as puzzles to be solved, the adventure is terrifying at times, but the joy and love are so real when they meet the toughness of a world stuck on autopilot.

I've had so much resistance every step of the way. And the fact that you overcame the objections before doesn't stop them from still coming. There's always a million reasons you can't do something even if you've already done it. ;-) That happens in Silicon Valley, btw.
