Just realized that Jessica and I have donated more to defeating Trump than to any other cause. Which sucks. As in literally sucks huge amounts of money away from important problems. This is a hidden but very significant cost of increasing polarization.

Californias housing and domestic policy is way worse for startups than trumps immigration policy changes and cali amounts 2/3ds of trumps opposition.

Trump has many flaws but the worst part of the opposition is that they plan to do a lot, and the track record is terrible as well. You want incompetent politicians, they do little things, reversible things, and things thet dont work.

although h1b is technically not slavery, it’s probably the closest corporations can legally access next to it. the amount of control they have over these imported workers is obscene. we need a full h1b reform. the current system hurts & degrades corporations too.

Peter Theil talks about one of the most important jobs of a startup is finding undiscovered or overlooked talent. International students often have less traditional data points - and as I’ve seen a tremendous work ethic and maturity. Limiting that talent pool is disastrous.

Anecdotally, I’ve talked to a recent H1B immigrant from India, and he told me he was only able to make it here because of tightening immigration requirements, which made many “fake” H1B seekers fall off the queue.

That makes sense to me. (And raises for me the question: which political / civic issues are NOT relevant to the core mission of a startup? Once you're big enough, almost everything can become relevant... so it turns into a where-to-draw-the-line question?)

Think locally. There are quality of life issues for employees, but I wouldn't call those direct to the company. - Housing cost - Commuting convenience - Quality of Schools Compare to direct impact like immigration policy, privacy regulation, IP law, etc

His stated policy position is to have merit based immigration with limits on family based or lotteries. So net net, I (on the right) see him as +ve for startups except for the dems ruining everything. Is that viewpoint accurate?

You have chosen to allow common sense to get in the way of a good narrative Congratulations on your clarity
