Just realized that Jessica and I have donated more to defeating Trump than to any other cause. Which sucks. As in literally sucks huge amounts of money away from important problems. This is a hidden but very significant cost of increasing polarization.
I agree that he himself is the immediate threat, but polarization is how he got there.

Polarization is not how he got there. Right-wing white supremacy— that is, the conservative movement of the last 50 years - is how he got there. Those who downplayed that threat did more to put us in this position than those who have called it what it is.
