“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

In fact Francis Bacon was constantly talking openly about how following his scientific method would lead to the ability to make gold. Seemed to expect a few generations at most. He would be disappointed we here 400 years later still have no effective method to do that.
a little crazy is good for the creative soul
Also, even today the smartest people realize just how little we know and that there are many mysteries to the universe. It’s beyond arrogant to believe otherwise. We understand less about our universe than an ant on the sidewalk understands about our planet.

the other part of the problem is the shallow understanding of the occult, religious, and spiritual topics, relegating them to a domain of frivolity at best, or dangerous ignorant superstitions at worst.
What are our brightest minds pursuing or promoting today that will seem bizarre to folks 400...100...5 years from now? Given accelerating pace of change/progress/discovery I’d bet a good bit. What will be our alchemy, leeches, etc?
