has anyone tried to build a "pay to use" facebook? If so, why didn't it work? If not, why do you think no one has tried it?

I think "cool" people also secretly would like to go viral, get recognized or become famous. A paid social media wouldn't allow for that.

Maybe ivy league schools could be the first users? They're young enough to be cool but aren't as frugal as normal young people. It'd be ironic given that's where FB started.
